Yoga therapy is often described as the intersection between yoga and allopathic care. It is based on a holistic approach to healing and tailored to an individual’s specific needs which can go unmet in group classes.

This therapeutic approach is especially beneficial for relieving stress; soothing the nervous system, reducing pain, promoting positive thought patterns, improving focus and concentration, enhancing the quality and depth of the breath, establishing a deeper connection to Self as well as generating health and well-being.

Yoga Care for the Heart. The heart is more than just a pump and caring for your heart is more than just diet and exercise. A good diet and regular exercise form the basis of a healthy lifestyle but factors such as stress, loss and isolation also take a toll on the heart’s ability to function.

High blood pressure, hypertension and cardiovascular disease affect millions of American men and women.

How can yoga can help? Yoga trains the mind/body to relax and begin the healing journey. Developing a program based on individual needs begins with a conscious breath and relaxation practice. When appropriate, physical postures (asanas) are added to establish the mind/body connection, release holding and build cardiovascular strength. Recent studies indicate:

Your first session will include a thorough assessment and an introduction to breath awareness. Subsequent sessions will include a combination of gentle postures, breathwork, progressive relaxation, goal setting and/or meditation.
